A Little Too Brave for Her Britches

Monday morning started off with a bang at our house. A certain little girl woke up on the wrong side of the bed and NOTHING would make her happy. I tried everything I knew to do to diffuse the oncoming tantrum -- holding her, singing (scary sound, I know), distracting her, ignoring the fit.... nothing was fixing what was ailing her. I finally decided to just put Iz in her crib to give her some time out and hoped she would chill with no audience to watch the drama. She continued to cry (throw down is more like it) and then I heard a THUMP! She never broke her rhythm crying, but I knew there was nothing in her crib but a blanket and blankets don't make thumping sounds when they're chunked out of cribs... Blankets might not, but little girls do! I walked into her room and she was toddling toward me still bawling (I'd have been bawling by then too!). She had climbed out of her bed and hit her head on a nearby chair. She grew a goose egg on her noggin quite quickly and managed to see how fast her momma's heart could race with worry. So... I'm thinking the crib is getting packed up and sent to the attic!!

Of course we had pictures scheduled for that afternoon!! Quickly rescheduled those, but definitely took pictures of my own so that when her little spitfire does the same thing one day I have proof that it's in the genes! I was sure we were going to see every color of the rainbow around her eye, but little ones heal so quickly! You can still tell she bumped it, but it's not nearly as bad as we thought it would be.

Day 2 -- Notice the blue sand on her unbruised eye -- I think she was trying to make them match! We went straight to the bath after this, she had brought half of outside inside with her.

It hasn't slowed her down one bit! She's as busy as ever and keeps us laughing most of the day!

wow, scary, but Im glad she is ok

I remember seeing my son crawl out of the crib for the first time and I was almost in tears - luckily, I actually saw him before he fell out.... but he soon moved to a big boy mattress on the floor

You make me feel like Macie is normal! Thanks Izzy. Thankfully, she has not managed to climb out of the crib yet, but it would not surprise me one bit if she did.

Praying that your boo boo continues to heal quickly, Izzy! I cannot imagine having to take my little Matthew out of his crib right now. He just turned 17 months and only started walking a month ago. But...once they figure out how to get out, you have to move them up to big boy/girl beds :) good luck!

I now completely understand the phrase "Lord, have mercy", because that is what you guys need right now! That little adventuress is going to make Indiana Jones look tame in comparison! Thank you, God, for swift healing... :<)

It looks like she kept going on with life after her bump. Poor girl! She sounds like a determined little one!

Awww! I'm glad that she's okay. My little bugger climbed out of his crib at 10 months old. Imagine waking to that boom. I know how your heart was racing. Poor Izzy and poor Mama.

Have fun getting her to nap in a bed :)

If arranged marriages are okay - I've got a cute little blue eyed boy Miss Izzy needs to meet! I can't even imagine the adorable little blue-eyed babies they would make - and Joey's already totally used to the drama from his sister - wouldn't phase him a bit! What do you think? Seriously, I'm glad she's okay - I know they always say as long as the bump goes OUT it's okay - but it's always hard to convince myself of that when that huge goose egg pops out! Love the pics of your beautiful little girl!
Love,
Alayna

Sometimes when I come here and see the picture of Catie on the side, my heart is just heavy. I can only imagine how it overwhelms you at times. I do continue to pray for all of you.

Okay, that is scary!! So glad to hear that Izzy is okay. So far Allie hasn't tried to climb out yet - but I worry about it every time I lay her down!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
