Snuggle Bunnies and Such

Catie was a snuggler from the day she was born until the day she left this earth. Every morning found the 2 of us snuggled up on the couch for an hour or so after she awoke (neither one of us are morning people). Waking up slowly was the name of the game.

Izzy was a snuggler for the first few weeks of her life, but quickly became more interested in all that was going on around her. She was more worried about what she would miss out on than getting in any ole snuggling! In the last couple of months, she's learned to enjoy snuggling up to take a nap, but almost always next to me, not lying on my chest. And you can forget snuggling in the morning!!! She is on the move from the time she wakes up -- I honestly can't even fathom how someone can be so wide awake so fast!

But for some reason this morning, Ms. Izzy decided that snuggling up on my chest was a good thing. She was sitting in my lap, leaned forward on me and laid her head down. I rubbed her back and stroked her hair and soaked her up and thanked God for this sweet and energetic baby girl who saw fit to pause on her momma this morning. Oh the sweetness of a baby on your chest.

Oh . . . there is nothing in the world like having a snuggle bunny on your chest. Nothing. I love it when they are in just the right position that you can turn your head down and inhale the soft sweetness of chicky hair. How I do miss those days.

I'm so glad you took advantage of the opportunity to soak up such a precious moment.

Love & Hugs!!

Amen! I am so thankful for this snuggle time Izzy gave this morning. It is absolutely one of the most wonderful feelings in the world. Praising God for giving me the eyes to realize and appreciate just how precious and dear these moments are. Hoping for many more snuggles!

Sweet baby girl... I wonder if a certain snuggle angel bunny whispered in her ear "Mommy needs this, so do it for me"...? It wouldn't surprise me a bit.
Glad for snuggles and hugs no matter HOW big my boy gets!

Hey you! I was appreciating snuggle time just last night! Tyler fell right asleep after eating last night, directly on my chest and I just sat there & kissed his head - there aren't many things sweeter than that! My last one wasn't a snuggler either (I know you know who I mean...) so I soak up those times even more!
Much love to you and yours!

I'm so glad you got some snuggle time with sweet Izzy. She sounds like such a busy little girl, I'm sure it's a rare moment when she will slow down for you. I thought your entry about God's love was beautiful. The questions and doubts you mentioned, about not getting the answer you prayed so deeply for, are ones that plague me regarding the plight of children. I am not overly entitled to ask such questions as I haven't been in such a dire situation, but still, when I read about your journey and that of others, I do wonder why our great and loving God doesn't show the kind of mercy we desire sometimes. It's all a mystery, and there are moments when that frustrates me. Part of being human and seeing only a small piece of the picture, I suppose. Thank you for sharing your insights and your doubts and your assurance.

This comment is related to an earlier post a few weeks ago that mentioned the poem "The Dash". My 85 y.o. grandmother was sick at the time (not cancer related) I came across it and we were considering Hospice. I read the poem and it really reminded me of her. She passed away on Valentine's Day and the poem was read at her funeral. Several people commented on how appropriate it was. Just wanted to let you know of yet another way that Catie's story helped another family in a positive way. I had to tell the brief story of Catie and your blog when I told others of how I came across the poem. Thank you so much.
