Midgets and Moonpies

Well, I've done it. I've moved to a blog. I guess a brief intro. is in order for those who don't know our story. I'm married to Tre' (whose ability to make me laugh first made me fall in love with him) and I'm the lucky mom of two amazing girls... one who's here with us and one who we lost to cancer at nearly 4 1/2 years of age.

Catie, known to her daddy as Midget, was our firstborn. She arrived in late September 2002 at 8 pounds 6 ounces and stretched a full 23 inches long. She was funny and tough, loving and mischievous. God blessed us with her presence, but it wasn't nearly long enough. She battled medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor, from her first birthday till the late January night that we lost her. She had more good days than you could ever imagine and we cling to every memory and laugh and hug she gave us. She waits for us now where she is whole and healthy and we know we will see her again.

Enter Izzy, known to her daddy as Moonpie. She arrived in late January 2007, just a week after we said goodbye to her sister, at an even 8 pounds and 20 3/4 inches long. How grateful we are for her. She's just over 6 months now and we're thinking she is going to be a bit of a spitfire. She keeps us on our toes and knows how to show us what she wants. What a joy she is... her laughter has filled our house with music and her squeals delight our hearts.

Add Joey, our dog, and I'd say you've met all of us. Through Catie's battle, writing became a huge comfort for me. I've moved here from Caringbridge as it seems a more appropriate venue now that she's gone. Here I'll share Izzy stories (something tells me those are going to get really interesting in a year or so), memories of Catie, and stuff we're learning (or at least trying to) along the way.

Hope you'll be back to visit soon.

I don't know if you will remember me or not but I use to work at Scottish Rite as a customer service ambassador and would see you out in the little booth by the parking deck and then I was up in the PICU when Catie had her last surgery. I have had the hardest time trying to come up with what to write on the Caringbridge site to let you know that I still think of y'all and that I have been keeping up with your beautiful family, you are always in my prayers.
Next time you are in Atlanta we will have to do lunch or something. Jenny you are such an inspiration to me.

I'm so glad you've started a blog, Jen. I don't think anyone who followed Catie's story failed to fall in love with her. I look forward to watching Izzy's life unfold.

I was trying to subscribe to this blog when grandson Isaiah, 2 yrs., pushed something on the computer that indicated I thought there was something objectionable. I don't know how to undo that. Maybe because it doesn't have Cassie from "Dragon Tales," he did object! I'm sorry.
Hugs,
Ellen

Hi! I love your blog! This is a first for me so I hope I can figure it all out :-) Kaycee and I just sat and watched the video of Catie. She giggled during the present opening when Catie was sitting in her new chair. Of course she didn't quite understand why I kept crying and laughing all at the same time. You know we have Catie's picture and letter up in the sign in room at school. I look at her smiling face every morning before school starts! :-)
You and Izzy need to come up and visit soon! We all would love to see you both! You all continue to be in my daily prayers. I have added your blog to my favorites and will be checking in on a regular basis. Hope to see you soon!

Welcome to the blogging world! I've been enjoying it myself. I'm thrilled that you plan to keep writing. I love reading about Izzy and Catie (and the nicknames are precious!). I think this will be a great medium for you to write about a vast array of subjects.

Jenny, I moved here with you from the CB site. Just wanted to say how much your faith in God, especially during the worst times a parent can face, has inspired me. I love your writing and am enjoying getting new glimpses of your sweet Catie along with the new stories of precious Izzy. May God continue to be with your family and bless them.

Your blog's looking GREAT, Jen! I love, love, love the name, too. I'm at the RMH this weekend and there are some new pics up in the kitchen. One is the beautiful picture of Catie you have here with her face painted, and the other is of Cari holding Izzy and sitting with Fergie! I couldn't help but smile when I saw those. :) Miss you all...
